Sometimes, life leads us into unexpected pauses, moments where creativity quietly steps aside to make room for the demands of change. After spending three fantastic years in the United States, my recent return to New Zealand has been a whirlwind of transitions!! Packing, unpacking, goodbyes, reconnecting. Amidst it all, my art has taken a back step!! I have missed it and I am rearing to go!! I feel the weight of not creating!!
There’s an unspoken pressure as an artist to constantly produce, to always have a work in progress but I’ve come to realize that these pauses are not empty spaces; they are necessary breaths. They give us time to absorb, reflect and recharge.
Although things have been quiet my mind has been active with ideas, piecing together the fragments of inspiration gathered during my time in the U.S. This pause has become less about absence and more about incubation, a space where new creative seeds can begin to take root. For those of you that have been checking out my progress/journey I will have new work to share with you soon :). As always I love connecting with my art. I welcome your comments and appreciate you sharing.
With love x
